How My Life Changed in 50 Days of Drawing

“That’s what you should blog about,” my first customer said. “How your life has changed in 50 days of drawing!” “She’s right,” I thought. To think, it all started with COVID-19. I was in a drawing class when COVID-19 hit. Our teacher gave us our virtual assignment, a drawing a day. For extra credit, we could draw the alphabet. So that is what I did!

I’m a big Brene’ Brown fan. Reading her books gave me the confidence to come out about my mental illness. So, what did I do? I posted my drawings on Facebook. My friends responded with likes, loves, wows, and even a share! That gave me the confidence I needed to keep going. So, I started through the alphabet and started posting it on the Brene’ Brown Discussion Group as something positive and constructive I could do during this extraordinary time.

Each day was a challenge. Each day I wondered if I could do it. Each day in the middle of drawing, I thought my picture sucked. Each day, I posted it on Facebook. To rave reviews! “Your drawings remind me of your father’s woodburnings,” one relative said. Yes, that’s true. My father was a self-taught artist. When my asked one friend about my drawing her response was, “Danei, you’ve doodled your entire life. It’s no big surprise that you can draw!”

So, during a global pandemic, I am in the process of perhaps a burgeoning new career as an artist! See what you think!
