Honestly, I don’t know why I became fascinated with the skull last month. “God made the skull” a friend said. This was a part of my original online drawing class when I was tasked to draw something scary.
For me, my “needlework” is kind of like sculpting in reverse. Instead of cutting things away, you are building the image up through color. “I love how tactile your needlework is,” a friend commented on my first design.
Honestly, I feel like I have only learned obedience through my needlework. “You make your world,” was my motto growing up. I was a very determined, serious child. I couldn’t wait to grow up. Because I get my inspiration from nature, I know I am not the true creator. My work is a pale imitation. For me, it is a three-step process: original sketch in colored pencil, paper template that dissolves with washable ink, and the finished product.
What I have learned is that you don’t edit the design when you are working on the final product on denim. You make little adjustments, not the overall design. We are all God’s design; we are not our own.
Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works;
My soul knows it very well.
