“To create is to make something that has never existed before. There’s nothing more vulnerable than that,” Brene’ Brown said. I felt it today. “What am I doing? What is an adult woman doing spending so much time coloring!!”
I drew another sunflower today. Today’s challenge was the subtlety of the petals. In fact, I never really got the formula down for the petals today. I just kept trying different color combinations to make a gradation from red to yellow. And before you know it, I had colored the last petal! All my chances were over.
Isn’t that just like life these days? According to Time, “Last month, roughly 70% of Americans experienced moderate-to-severe mental distress—triple the rate seen in 2018.” We all have been struggling.
Despite my personal misgivings, I posted it online. “Thank you for bringing nature’s beauty to me and others! It adds wonder and calm to my day!” one Facebook poster commented. “Beautiful. I especially love the movement of the petals—so hopeful. Thank you,” said another. So maybe it was worth it after all. Even if you are like me and think you didn’t get it right today! Be encouraged to catch the sun, seek beauty, or nurture your soul during these unprecedented times!
