Thank you for 30 years!

This morning Dan and I exchanged words related to some battles in our lives, before he headed off to work at the library today. I realized we were both right, in that we all are facing tough battles in our lives right now. I am grateful that all of us recognize that these battles we are facing are caused by outside forces. We are striving not to blame one another during this tumultuous time. We are striving to keep Edelen Acres a haven in the midst of the storms of life on planet Earth.

Recently in needlework, I started working on a lion. It is definitely a challenge because of the fur. I like to be very organized in my stitches and make everything look orderly. But, that doesn’t work when you are creating fur. You need something that looks more random. I was fussing about it and Dan googled something and crewel came up. I don’t do crewel, but it gave me an idea for how I could do it. When working on the legs, I sewed all the stitches vertically on one leg, the second leg I created a ladder as a frame work for all the stitches. Each totally different in how I sewed the stitches, but they look the same. Creating the legs of my lion reminded me a lot of being a married. You have two people from totally different backgrounds that become “one flesh” in the eyes of God. After being married since 1996, Dan and I don’t really finish each others sentences, but we do tend to think alike on most topics now.

I am so profoundly grateful for my renaissance man who has weathered life’s storms with me these last 30 years. You are my soul mate, confidant, and my life long companion. It is miracle that God brought us together all those years ago. My deepest desire for Ethan is that he finds a soul mate like I did.
